SWEET POTATO PARATHA

Sweet Potato Paratha is a healthy and delicious flatbread dish prepared with sweet potato, wheat flour and with some Indian spices. This is vegan and perfect for breakfast and dinner. Sweet Potato paratha is not just healthy but also easy to prepare. RECIPE FOR SWEET POTATO PARATHA

SWEET POTATO PARATHA

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 sweet potato
  • 2 cup wheat flour
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp amchur powder (dry mango powder)
  • 1/4 tsp ajwain seeds
  • 1 green chilli - chopped
  • 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp kasoori methi
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp oil
  • salt to taste

  • water - as needed
METHOD
  • boil sweet potato in a sauce pan for 10-15 minutes or until it's cooked well
  • once sweet potato cooked well, switch off the flame and cool down at room temperature
  • peel off the skin and mash the potato well using potato masher
  • in a mixing bowl, add mashed potato, wheat flour, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, amchur powder, garam masala powder, ajwain seeds, green chilli, ginger garlic paste, kasoori methi and coriander leaves
  • mix well
  • add water little by little and make a soft and smooth dough
  • add a tsp of oil on top of the dough, cover and rest for 30 minutes
  • pinch a medium sized ball dough, add some flour, roll and make a round circle using the rolling pin
  • place the prepared  paratha in the hot tawa
  • add a tsp of oil on top of the paratha and spread to all over the sides and cook for a minute
  • then flip over the paratha to other side and cook evenly or until the golden brown spots appear on them
  • repeat the same process with the remaining dough
  • serve sweet potato paratha with raitha, pickle, paneer curry or any other vegetable curry
  • taste delicious
NOTES
  • adjust spice level according to your taste
  • you can also use pressure cooker to boil the sweet potatoes
